Mental Health First Aid (Online) - September

Become a Mental Health First Aider by attending this online course with Unipol Training.

This event will be delivered online (via Zoom) at the following times:

  • Thursday 25th September  9.30am - 1.30pm
  • Friday 26th September 9.30am - 1.30pm
  • Thursday 2nd October 9.30am - 1.30pm
  • Friday 3rd October 9.30am - 1.30pm

In addition to the above sessions, participants will be provided with some advance reading that must be completed before each session.

Before booking, please ensure you are able to attend all of the scheduled sessions, as it will not be possible to pass the training and receive certification without attending all timetabled sessions.

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix
  • The opportunity to learn and develop amongst peers working within the student accommodation sector, sharing experiences and networking

Speakers

Toria Thomas - Tenancy Support and Wellbeing Coordinator, Unipol Student Homes

Toria is a Tenancy Support and Wellbeing Coordinator in Unipol. Having previously trained as a Religious Education secondary school teacher, so is well used to broaching difficult topics and answering sensitive questions. Since beginning in Unipol in May 2022, Toria has assisted student tenants with numerous issues, ranging from flat fallouts and messy kitchens, to mental health crises. Toria is passionate about LGBTQ+ rights, animal welfare and averting climate disaster.

 

Victoria Peckitt, Code Complaints Investigator, National Code/Unipol Student Homes

Vic is the Code Complaints Investigator at Unipol and deals with hundreds of student accommodation complaints every year so has a deep understanding of current issues and effective approaches.  With over ten years’ experience working in Student Property, she’s been with Unipol since 2015, performing roles including Housing Management and Tenancy Support.
