I am interested in taking over the lease for that exact period. However, I want to see the place first as soon as possible.

Yes, you can visit the place. As I am not in the UK anymore, you can go to the building reception and they should be able to help you. They are aware that I have left and we are looking for a sublet. Even though I have correspondence over email with their staff, you can mention my sublet again to reception to remind them.
